March immigration forums planned at Maryknoll, Dominican College

There are not one but two separate forums on immigration coming up in the second week of March, one in Westchester and one in Rockland.
At Maryknoll in Ossining, a panel of speakers will talk about worldwide migration, U.S. foreign policy and immigration from a faith-and-justice perspective. “Faces of Immigration” will take place at the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers Center, 55 Ryder Road in Ossining at 7 p.m. March 12.
Speakers are Marie Dennis, director of the Maryknoll Office of Global Concerns and co-president of Pax Christi International; Eva Richter, an NGO delegate to the United Nations, representing the International Federation of Business and Professional Women, and Darlene Jacobs, a Maryknoll Sister and missioner/educator with more than 30 years’ experience in Tanzania.
In the Hennessy Center at Dominican College in Sparkill, the Rockland Immigration Coalition will hold its Fourth Annual Immigration Forum in of the Dominican College from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 14.
Speakers are Hugh Hamilton, host of WBAI ’s “TalkBack!” show and an immigrant from Guyana; Chung-Wha Hong, executive director of the New York Immigration Coalition, and Ron Hayduk, author of “Democracy For All.” Hayduk will speak on “Non-citizen Voting in Local School Board Elections: An Old Idea Making a Comeback.”
