More than 20 people, including several children, attended an immigration reform vigil in Carmel yesterday. The event coincided with one in Washington D.C. where thousands descended upon the capital calling for a renewed push in reform.
The peaceful Carmel gathering, sponsored by the Hudson Valley Community Coalition and the lower Hudson Valley chapter of the New York Civil Liberties Union, was meant to spark the attention of local representatives to take action. The vigil was held outside the office of Rep. John Hall.
For more on the story, check it out here.
Meanwhile, here are some photos I took of the vigil.

I’m sure these kids are all anchor babies.
For over twenty years, Washington’s power elites have kept our borders open. They’ve undermined enforcement of immigration laws, and opposed efforts to secure the American workplace. As a result, millions of illegal immigrants have entered at the expense of our middle class.
New York is among the Top Ten states for illegal immigrants. In New York State, the annual cost to provide free Health Care, free Education (K-12) and incarceration costs to our resident illegal population runs $3 1/2 BILLION per year. After an Obama Amnesty, New York Taxpayers will spend $5 1/2 Billion per year, rising to $9 Billion a year by 2020.
Terrorists have exploited our open borders, lax enforcement of immigration laws, and yes prior Amnesty programs too.
Betsy, I would welcome the opportunity of debating you in any forum that you desire.

Forget it Ed Betsy is a coward. I’ve tried to get her to meet me in person and she clams up and avoids it. Their
agenda is weak and outright wrong. She can’t debate because
she is a coward and won’t listen to the other side.
