Shameful commentary…

June
30

It’s a real shame that on the immigration story related to Brewster High School students learning English and assimilating, the majority of the comments following the article are so negative, and in many cases, racist.

These are kids, who are here to get a better education, to go to college and become productive citizens of the U.S. Sadly, the forum does not even give them a chance.

Most commentators often remark in general about how people who are in this country should learn English, the laws and the culture by which this society functions. This is exactly what these students are doing, but yet it’s never enough.

I’m sorry that these kids have to be subjected to such hateful rhetoric when it is their accomplishments that should be applauded.

To read the story, go here.

Hate is blind to reason, just look at Ball & co. gain traction with their unending attacks on brown-skinned people.

I know for a fact that there are permanent resident cards in the hands of some of our day laborer friends yet they are all painted with the same tar and feathers.

Please keep the positive stories coming. Every once in a while a thinking person will be converted to honor human life and tolerate different races.

These so-called conservative republicans only use “illegal alien” as an excuse to hate everyone in the Hispanic class.

It is odd though, every truly conservative republican i know revels in cheap labor to maximize profits. Where did these fringe proselytizers take a wrong turn?

I think its more about the parents learning the language.
and it isnt hate or racist to want people who live and work in this country to speak english. Its erspectful to learn the language of the country you are in. especially when you are here moer than 2 years. There’s no excuse. none.

Prohuman this isn’t about hate or Republican cheap labor
or about votes for Democrats it’s about enforcing our laws.
“illegal alien” is the correct word. An immigrant is someone who is invited here and does things by our laws and
goes through a tough screening process. An illegal alien
is someone who is UNINVITED HERE and takes advantage of our social services while slithering through the grass in the
middle of the night knowing they are breaking the law while
crossing our borders.Get a clue before you spew.

Marcela why do you only print stories about illegal immigration that are warm and fuzzy and and never about
their illegality or how they shatter American’s lives everyday and ruin communities like Brewster? This forum
never does a story about how illegals kill Americans everyday. Does this clear things up about why people are angry over a story that puts illegals in a positive way?
Do some fair and balnced news for once and maybe you would get a different reaction to a nice story. Always about the
little good that they do but NEVER about the turmoil they cause. Get a clue before you spew. I’m getting angry just writing this.
