After crash, fury over illegal immigration

Locally, the horrifying crash in Brewster is unleashing a wave of rage over illegal immigration. Police identified the drunken-driving suspect as an illegal immigrant who worked on a local horse farm. Apparently the horse farms are yet another industry that relies on undocumented labor, as we reported in The Journal News on Sunday.

The reader forums on our web site are boiling with comments about illegal immigrants, their employers, Hispanics and “Mayan savages” and as the NYT’s Peter Applebome noted, an offer to “feed this piece of garbage into a wood chipper alive.”

In speaking with people around town last week, I also heard residents arguing that this tragedy was about drunk driving, not illegal immigration. Bart Campbell said Brewster does face problems that stem from immigration and day labor. But as for the tragedy, he said,

You have a tendency to think, ‘It’s a Guatemalan problem.’ … It’s an alcohol problem. It’s a combined thing. But you know, guys like you and me, they get drunk and kill people too.

I think lot of these people should be able to get (green) cards easier. Not easy, but easier. It is so expensive and so difficult to be legal that they just can’t do it.

An email went around demanding action from Congressman John Hall on immigration, though it didn’t specify what kind of action. The writer declined to talk specifics with me. The email said,

Our town has been taken over. Would you let your children walk through the town of Brewster? Would you yourself walk through? Would you shop there? None of us would and there in lies the problem. This is OUR town. WE pay the taxes and carry the burden of our community. Now we have to bury two of our own.

I contacted Hall’s office, which issued the statement below. He expresses support for immigration reform and further security measures, but does not go out of his way to mention a legalization program.

Illegal immigration is a serious problem facing America. I believe Congress must act now to pass strong, comprehensive immigration reform. A country is fundamentally defined by its borders and securing our borders to stem the flow of illegal immigration should be a top national priority. To help secure America’s borders I have voted to provide funding for 3,000 new border patrol agents, $1.6 billion to build fences along the U.S. – Mexico border, $150 million to state governments to improve their identification cards to make it more difficult for illegal aliens to use fake documents, and to fully fund the training of immigration enforcement officers. I also strongly support expanding the E-Verify program which confirms the legal status of new workers. I’m supporting an amendment to require all federal contractors who work with the Department of Homeland Security to use the E-Verify program – it is nonsensical that they don’t already. America’s immigration policy is a complex issue, but its crystal clear that it must be reformed, those here illegally who are caught breaking the law need to be deported, and that businesses hiring illegals should be punished. I do not support amnesty. Those who broke the law to get here don’t deserve to cut in line in front of those who have been patiently working with the system to immigrate to our country legally.

Do I have it wrong? Are the politicians we elect in office, supposedly work for the majority of the American people? Isn’t that what their oath of allegiance is to protect and represent-THE PEOPLE? Isn’t that what they get paid humongous salaries for, including platinum heath care and extended lists of benefits? Yet these creeps have confused illegal immigrants, with the legal population of this country? Where illegal immigration is concerned, they have cheated the taxpayer? Not only have the legislators made it a civil offense, to unlawfully enter these United States without being inspected for contagious diseases or to investigate their character for criminal backgrounds-WHEN IT SHOULD BE A FELONY LIKE MEXICO AND EVEN INDUSTRIALIZED NATIONS? Liberal judges have sacrificed our citizenship laws, so any pregnant female who gives birth. The baby is automatically granted citizenship. In truth this was meant for slaves after the Civil war when emancipated. This has led to hundreds of thousands of impoverished women, collecting citizen welfare checks, low income housing and a long list of benefits.

But by mandated law, we have to pay for their education, housing, emergency room activities, but also a very large population of foreign nationals branding in our prison system. Everything that is welfare is given to them, whereas American citizens must express a need or are denied, or haunted by debt collectors and bankruptcy. Doesn’t the balance of our laws, seem to be one-sided, that gives the advantage to business who hire them as cheap labor? It’s far too late to blame previous administrations, but the current one run by a majority of liberal Democrats have already crafted a new path to citizenship, for lawbreakers. Why should they get yet another priority when honest foreigners await patiently their turn, to enter on a permanent residency visa? This is not just about immigration as a whole or part, but OVERPOPULATION.

We know that the Sen. Harry Reid’s and Nancy Pelosi’s will lie to the American people and they are well and truly hypocrites. Not so long ago Harry Reid was a zealot against the illegal immigration invasion? To he defies all sense of his loyalty to the American worker, slaughtering and under funding E-Verify. This being a sensible, reliable tool, to eject illegal aliens from the workplace. This crowd of Democrats have allowed an estimated 300.000 illegal aliens to take stimulus jobs, plus used their political influence to impair many new immigration laws, such as abandoning ICE raids. It should be noted, that very few executives who hire illegal immigrants never see a prison cell? Their is little doubt in my mind, that the general public are going to be ignored, when it comes to an imminent AMNESTY E-Verify will be dropped, so will any heavy enforcement at the border, the National guard, so that the current waves of poor people will have easy access to jobs.

Any rumor of AMNESTY will entertain even more millions upon millions skirting the border patrol, hoping to be part of a path to citizenship or BLANKET AMNESTY? You cannot listen to the open border, free trade fanatics, businesses, faith based and radical groups as they all have something to-~~GAIN~~- as they are ready to undermine any new laws that enforce immigration law. Interesting enough is that a relative who lives in Los Angeles observed a E-Verify notice in an “El Pollo Loco” franchise. So not all businesses must be condemned for being parasitic and putting cheap labor before an American worker?

I think they should uphold the rule of law and govern by the rules set forth by the United States Constitution, as they swore they would with their oaths of office.

Back in the sixties the government came into the schools and brainwashed us with the idea we needed to control the population because it was rising so fast. They said the roads would become crowded and we would run out of things like water.

They unleashed abortions, birth control pills, and other forms of Family Planning.

To allow the country to be over run with the criminals in businesses illegal labor while the criminals in the government aid and abet the invasion is a travesty against mankind.

They have seen to it our children were killed to control the population at the same time allowing the world to export their population problems here.

What about our sacrifices, many made against our will?????

P.S. We still haven’t recovered from the last time the criminals in business were allowed to bring in their slaves.

The population control propaganda that started in the 60’s
happened at the same time they changed the immigration
policy to bring in more people from third world countries.
It seem like the intent was to reduce white americans to a minority
just like what is happening.
The population has gone up by 100 million since then and we still
haven’t run out of trees or water yet and politician don’t seem concerned.

If the ILLEGAL ALIEN wasn’t in this Country ILLEGALLY, he could not have been drunk in this Country. It’s just one thing after another with these ILLEGAL ALIENS.

Then you have these activist groups, the Catholic Church and the ACLU that want AMNESTY for these ILLEGAL ALIENS. It would be absolute suicide for this Country if AMNESTY were granted to the 20 million or so ILLEGAL ALIENS. We have more and more people out of work everyday and they want to add another 20 million to this Country? I say, “NO”!

If AMNESTY were ever granted to these 20 million ILLEGAL ALIENS, you can bet big money that 3 years from now, there would be ANOTHER 3-5 million ILLEGAL ALIENS demonstrating on our soil for AMNESTY.

An end MUST come to this illegal immigration. The perfect tool we have so far is E-Verify. It MUST be used by ALL businesses and Government Social Services. EVERY employee must be checked! If they are illegal, they are to be dismissed!

I believe it is time for all 50 States to pass a State law, like Arizona, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Missouri, South Carolina and a few others. It is time for these ILLEGAL ALIENS to go back to their home Country and get out of this Country. The problems they are causing will not go away until the ILLEGAL ALIENS are out of this Country.

Is NEW YORK ready for a State Illegal Immigration Law? When you get rid of all the ILLEGAL ALIENS, you get rid of all the problems that go with them. THAT IS A FACT!

Our FAMILIES are at the mercy of ILLEGALS and their Anchors being murdered, raped, infected with disease, or robbed. We can see the results of the ILLEGAL invasion in our courts every day! But NOT to worry the Chamber of Commerce will get their cheap labor increasing their privatized PROFITS while socializing the benefits for their ILLEGALS on the back of U. S. Citizens, thanks to our past and current Presidents, the Congressional Leadership(?), and local elected and appointed officials!

Yes, Citizens do commit crimes, including drunk driving, but resources that could be utilized fighting these crimes are diverted in an attempt to protect U.S. Citizens from the never ending crimes of the ILLEGALS and their Anchors. A Mother and Daughter, Two U.S. Citizens, are dead because an ILLEGAL was in the United States driving drunk; if he were not in the U.S. ILLEGALLY the two Citizens would be alive or at the very least not murdered by the ILLEGAL in this drunk-driving incident.

I’m outraged that while Rep. Hall says he opposes amnesty, he then says he supports “comprehensive immigration reform”—which we all know is a euphemism for mass amnesty for 12-20 million illegal aliens (even if they have to supposedly “learn English” and pay a fine).

We tried “comprehensive reform” amnesty with the 1986 IRCA, which failed and led to more illegal immigration as the promised immigration enforcement was dropped.

And we also need to crack down on foreigners who are working here illegally, BEFORE they commit other crimes.

The way to solve this problem is to support E-Verify AND enforcement of our existing immigration laws. If we cut off the jobs most illegals will return home over time without the need mass deportations.

Call Rep. Hall and tell him that if he truly opposes amnesty, then he will fight against “comprehensive immigration reform” a/k/a amnesty and instead support E-Verify and enforcement of our existing immigration laws.

When someone loses a loved one to a drunk driver it has to make you very angry. Because it was preventable, if the person hadn’t been drinking, they wouldn’t have been impaired.

Add to that the fact the person is in the country illegally, no matter where they are from, and you have a double whammy.
There are hundreds of accidents that have been caused by illegal aliens drinking.
Then you can add to this all the other crimes, and you should be one ticked off American.
