ICE places hold on suspect in deadly Brewster crash

U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement has filed a detainer on the suspect in a drunken driving accident that killed a woman and her daughter, a second grader, as they walked to a dance lesson yesterday evening. A press conference is scheduled to begin shortly.
The driver, identified this morning by a Putnam County corrections official as Zacariah Conses-Garcia, 35, was taken into custody at the scene in Brewster. He was arraigned on a felony charge of first-degree vehicluar manslaughter. ICE placed a hold on the suspect as an illegal immigrant. For today’s Journal News coverage click here.

For those who haven’t figured it out yet, the entire illegal immigration crisis we suffer is due 100 percent from failure to enforce existing law
No longer can any political candidate be silent on this issue, so those of you who are running for reelection or running against incumbents be forewarned that silence on this issue is as good as being for amnesty and the granting of rights to illegal immigrants.
Government at all levels must make the prosecution and deportation of law-breaking illegal aliens a top priority. That includes drunk driving as well as theft, rape and murder. All foreign prisoners eligible for deportation must be shipped home at the end of their sentences, not released onto American streets to commit further crimes on innocent citizens. The common excuse that these dangerous criminals “fell through the cracks” is not acceptable when our fellow citizens are being killed, raped and otherwise harmed by these invaders.
Furthermore, local governments must end their criminal-protecting sanctuary directives. Such public policy insanity is directly responsible for terrible crimes to innocents as well as making the jobs of police far more difficult. It’s time for every American to exhibit some righteous contempt of our own—, contempt for those who commit violence and for those politicians who support these sanctuary policies, who prohibit police from acting on the suspicion that someone is in the country illegally.
These politicians must be held accountable when lives and families are destroyed by illegal aliens who go on to commit other crimes.

Fatal crashes caused by illegal alien drunk drivers are now so common that this is a national crisis.
There are unfortunately some misguided groups that make excuses for these criminals.
We’ve heard apologists claim that illegal immigrant drunk drivers are a “cultural” problem, or that illegal alien driver’s don’t know the rules of the road.
Behind this utter nonsense is a simple fact…national statistics prove that illegal alien drunk drivers EXPLOIT their immigration status. Put simply, illegal immigrant drunk drivers game the system.
By giving local police a different alias, and a fake address illegal immigrant drunk drivers can avoid many of the serious consequences that you or I would face in a similar situation.
Whenever an illegal alien vanishes after killing someone in a drunken crash, they make a mockery of our entire criminal justice system. Criminal aliens weave in and out of society, killing innocent Americans and then escaping justice.
The case of Zacaria Conses-Garcia raises many troubling questions for our local officials including our Sheriff and our DA.
1) What is Zacaria Conses-Garcia REAL name?
2) Does Zacaria Conses-Garcia have a prior record of criminal activities?
3) Why was Bail set so ridiculously low when the risk of flight in such cases is 100%?
4) What happens if the Zacaria Conses-Garcia’s EMPLOYER posts Bail and then Zacaria Conses-Garcia vanishes?
5) Will our Sheriff now implement a formal cooperation agreement with ICE?
