It’s interesting to note under which category the Republican National Convention platform placed immigration and the use of English — under the chapter called Defending Our Nation, Supporting Our Heroes, Securing the Peace. It’s the document’s first chapter and it places immigration in the same sub-section as the wars abroad, homeland security and terrorism. Here’s a link to the document.
