Does illegal = murder?

April
22

Today’s TJN article about the 25-year-old woman who was killed by her ex-boyfriend, an illegal immigrant, has 53 comments from readers, many of whom talk about closing the borders and ridding the country of this illegal “vermin” and “piece
of excrement who was destined to be cared for by the state, and with no hope of ever becoming more than a parasite…”

There are perhaps an equal number of posters who argue that a human life was taken and that it has nothing to do with the person immigration. One commentator argues they do not see the level of outcry when similar crimes are committed by U.S. citizens.

It is clear there are strong opinions from both sides, and perhaps even more clear, that there will never be a consensus. Sadly, a life was taken, but the question remains: Did the alleged killer’s legal status have anything to do with it?
