Immigration: Your guide to the candidates

November
19

As we’ve seen in the driver’s license debate, it’s not always easy to figure out where candidates stand on immigration issues. Well, here are some places to start, at least where the ‘08 presidential candidates are concerned:

match-game-227×255.jpgGannett News Service is tracking the candidates’ immigration positions on this page. USA Today’s version, on this page, includes a “Candidate match game” that asks your opinions on a range of topics and the calculates which candidate agrees with you the most. (Judge for yourself how well this works. Issues like immigration, war in Iraq and the nation’s health care system don’t boil down too easily into multiple choice.)

The Houston Chronicle has a matching game on its site which is specific to immigration. I picked up on it through the Orange County Register’s immigration blog, The Issue. And here’s one more candidate quiz, from WQAD in Illinois.

Why not try a variant on this game.
Spot the politician who’s willing to tell you how much the war on immigration is going to cost you…
and why it’s not going to be like the war on drugs ie it’s going to work.
